Die Planung, Durchführung und Ergebnisüberprüfung rehabilitativer Maßnahmen für schwerhörige Erwachsene setzt geeignete diagnostische Testinstrumentarien voraus, die über die Erfassung audiometrischer Daten hinausgehen. Mit dem in den USA von Demorest und Erdmann entwickelten "Communication Profile for the Hearing Impaired" (CPHI) können eine Vielzahl von Faktoren erfaßt werden, die im Zusammenhang mit der Kommunikationsbehinderung schwerhöriger Menschen stehen. Mit dieser Studie wird ein erster Schritt zur Testadaption des CPHI auf den deutschsprachigen Raum vorgenommen. In einem mehrstufigen Übersetzungsverfahren, mit dem Kern der Erstellung einer Rückübersetzung der Items und mit Neuformulierungen von 17 Items, wurde eine vorläufige deutsche Version erstellt.

Planning, performing, and evaluating activities for the rehabilitation of hearing impaired adults requires a set of diagnostic tests transcluding purely audiometric data recording. The "Communication Profile for the Hearing Impaired" (CPHI), developed in the USA by Demorest and Erdmann, takes account of a variety of factors which are related to the communicational handicaps of people hard-of-hearing. Our Study presents the first step towards an adaption of the CPHI to the needs of German speaking countries. A preliminary German version was prepared through a step by step translation process mainly consisting of a re-translation of the items, and the new formulation of 17 of the original items.
