The brain and ist self? Neurobiology, free will as illusion and special education.

In this paper it is examined if the ego, awareness, free will, and self determination have to be considered as illusions, as declared by neurobiological proponents who believe that behavior is totally determined by brain mechanisms. Pro and contra standpoints are ana- lyzed. It is argued that this view leads to certain effects in our thinking and may be dangerous in terms of our ideas of man and of special education and psychotherapeutic intervention goals.
